Available Services

In case of emergency we ask that you call ahead where possible, so that we can prepare for your arrival- this will allow us to triage your pet as quickly as possible when they arrive and also set up oxygen therapy and pain relief as needed.

Emergency care is available 24/7 by calling the usual number 01884 255336- all calls outside of our opening hours will be redirected to as needed.

Having a poorly pet is a very upsetting time. We can process your pet’s insurance claim on your behalf.

There are two options when making an insurance claim:

You can pay us & then we can claim the fees back to you.

Alternatively if you have a larger bill to pay, we can offer a Direct Claim service.

End of Life Care

Our pets give us so much love and enjoyment during the time they spend with us- so, saying goodbye is always a difficult time.

Euthanasia is one of the most difficult decisions anyone can ever make for their pet and comes with a number of different emotions. Help is available for you when making your decision.

Park Hill is equipped to perform all routine surgical procedures on site.

We have a team of veterinary surgeons who carry out these procedures and we also frequently accommodate specialist orthopaedic surgeons.

Pet Health Plan

We know that a healthy and happy pet requires care and attention, and we have created our Pet Health Plan to make preventive health care simple and affordable.

We have included vaccinations, parasite treatments and 6 monthly check-ups.

We now offer you home delivery of your quarterly flea & worm products making it even easier to keep your pet healthy.

We are always happy to help with any of your pet’s needs and our nurses work alongside our vets to support you at all times.

From nail clipping and tick removal to second vaccinations and more you can call on our nurses for advice and practical help.

Some nurse clinics are free of charge or covered on the Pet Health Plan but others are chargeable- please ask at reception for more information.

Our variety of in-house laboratory machines allow us to investigate and work-up patients easily, particularly in emergency situations.

For any diagnostic tests that we are unable to run in- house we use a local external laboratory, who collect samples by courier every weekday.

Dental Treatment

Dental disease can have serious consequences for other body systems, including the heart, liver and kidneys.

Dental x-rays are now available which allow us to get a full picture of your animals mouth. This will be used during dental procedures to make a full dental health care plan for your pet.

Repeat Prescriptions

If your pet is on long term medication you can request repeat prescriptions through the repeat prescription page

In order for us to provide repeat medications your pet must be registered with us and must be under the care of one of our vets.

Depending on the condition, this will require your pet to have been examined by our vets within the last 3-6 months.

Laparoscopic (keyhole) Surgery

Keyhole surgery is a minimally invasive way of performing surgery.

A small camera (laparoscope) is inserted through a 5mm incision into the abdomen to examine the internal organs via a magnified image displayed on a monitor.

Special instruments are inserted through another small incision to allow delicate tissue handling.

If your vet thinks there may be a problem inside your pet’s body an X-ray or other imaging such as an ultrasound may be needed.

X-ray and ultrasound images allow your vet to look at the organs and bones inside your pet’s body without having to perform an operation.

Cat Friendly Clinics

We are very proud to say that we have recently been awarded Gold Standard Cat Friendly Clinic status. This is part of the ISFM Cat Friendly Clinic Scheme.

We recognise that because of their unique nature and needs, taking cats to veterinary clinics can be very stressful, both for cats and owners.

We take pride in offering comprehensive and compassionate health care . Some of our vets work part-time and consult on a rota basis so please let us know if you would like to see anyone in particular and we will do our best to accommodate you. All consultations are by appointment, except of course when you have an emergency. Please ring our friendly reception team to arrange a convenient time. A medical consultation is a chance to address your questions or concerns about your pet. No question is too small or too silly, and we are always happy to explain things - we strive to help you understand your pet's health conditions and make informed decisions. Our consultations with a vet are scheduled for 15 minutes to allow a thorough examination and comprehensive discussion.

The practice is equipped with a separate cattery and dog kennels for inpatients. The kennels contain large kennels for dogs over 10kgs, small kennels for smaller patients and 'walk in' kennel options for extra large/giant breeds. The cattery contains accommodation specially designed for cats where they can hide and have their privacy whilst recovering. There are separate recovery kennels for patients that require constant monitoring post-operatively. There is also a separate Isolation ward for animals which may have a potentially infectious disease and need to be kept separate from the other inpatients. We do not have staff on site all night, but all inpatients are checked by a vet between 9.30-11pm, with further checks as required throughout the night. For critical patients requiring more intensive supervision, 24 hour nursing is available at St Boniface vets in Crediton

Home visits for euthanasia may be available by call the surgery, as we understand for many pets and their owners it is preferable to go through this process at home. As far as possible we will accommodate requests for visits, but will generally require at least a day's notice. For all other conditions and procedures we advise that the animal attends the surgery, as we are very limited in the services we can offer off-site. However, visits can be arranged if transport to the surgery is not possible. If we cannot undertake a euthanasia for you, or you would like a more bespoke service, we do work alongside "Paws in Peace", a local home euthanasia service
