Cat Prep Area

If we need to take any bloods or carry out a procedure which requires a nurse to help hold your cat, we may take your cat to our special cat only prep area.

We often use this area for taking bloods, routine blood pressure monitoring and can even undertake minor procedures under general anaesthetic.

Here we have everything we need immediately to hand so that we can reduce any unnecessary stress.

Cats are different to dogs and so we use slightly different methods and techniques to minimise stress.

For example, before taking blood from a cat we make sure that they are comfortable by placing a clean cosy towel on the table, which has been pre- sprayed with pet remedy. We use smaller, quieter cat clippers and apply a local anaesthetic to the clipped area first.

This room has a do not disturb sign and is away from any noisy dogs to prevent any disturbance.
